May 29 - june 4

This year we are taking our summer vacation to Hilton Head. We decided to leave after campmeeting clean up and drive all night. Greg got home around 10:30pm and I had the car all packed...so by 11 we were all in the car and off we went. The kids started out watching a movie, then within the hour or so fell asleep as did I. Around 3am I woke up and saw the gas light on and we had 12 miles till empty...when we drove 12 miles and didn't see a gas station in site...I was starting to panic...or course by this time the kids are awake and talking, making me even more nervous...about 5 miles later we pull into a gas station...and it is CLOSED...what?!? Why would it be closed...luckly a mile down the street we found one open...filled up...and made it to the house we rented by 430 am.

Day 1 (Sunday)

Got up and went to the beach. I didn't realize how many sand dollars there are at this beach...they are all over in the water. Mainly swam all day today.

Day 2 (Monday)

Went out to the beach again this morning to swim. Today we found lots of starfish and sand dollars. The boys rented bikes for an hour, but got sick of them after 30mins :)Went to the outlet malls and bought peyton a really beautiful dress at white/black market. Around midnight Peyton decided to dye her hair blue...she accidently dropped the bottle of blue hair dye and it stained the cabinets and floor...it was everywhere...Of course nothing was open at midnight so finally Greg found some comet at a gas station...after an hour of scrubbing...we got it pretty clean.

Day 3 (Tuesday)

Jordan woke me up at 9am wanting to go running on the beach. So I got up and got dressed...we did more walking the running...but at least we got some exercise

Today is Mother's Day and Jordan's first 5K. The start line to the race was at Swain Elementary and went down Millers Ferry, turning around after the bridge then back to Swain. Jordan ran beside me for the first mile, then walked just for a few minutes then ran again. Her time was 36 min 35 sec. My time this race was 33 mins 40 sec. After we showered we all went to IHOP for breakfast Jordan, Peyton, and Brandon all got coffee drinks :) That evening was Albert and Ali's wedding at the Calhoun church.

GIRL'S WEEKEND

Saturday after church Dori Boggess and I left for our girls weekend to gatlinburg. It took us a couple extra hours to get to Knoxville to pick up Amanda Smith because we stopped at the street fair in calhoun to look at the booths and eat cake. Once we got to Gatlinburg we met Tammy Peterson and Stephanie Rufo at No Way Joses for dinner. Yes, the same place Greg and I had our wedding reception. Our food was gross and all wrong so after getting the manager involved we got nasty dessert..hopefully the waitress didn't spit on it :)

Finally getting to the cabin Dori and I made a breakfast casserole while waiting for the rest to get there...Amanda and her sister Susan went to the scrapbooking store and Tammy and Stephanie went shopping. Ellia also came for the night. We had alot of fun talking, watching Country Strong, getting in the hot tub, and eating..we ended up staying up till 3am.

The next Amanda and Susan stayed in the cabin and scrapbooked while we went shopping. I got some really pretty material for my reusable bags and Tammy got lots of cute maternity clothes.

I think this weekend getaway was alot of fun and can't wait to do it again!!!
